Richie Lencyk was a talented, versatile athlete who could truly "do it all" on the football field and baseball diamond.
He was a three-year starter in football, leading Fenwick to the State Playoffs in 1987 and 1988. He was a two-time All-District selection and All-MML first team choice as a running back. He was selected to the All-State team for 1988 after gaining over 2000 career rushing yards, 1500 career receiving yards, and recording 16 career interceptions as a defensive back. He led the Falcon defense in tackles in 2 of his three varsity seasons.
Richie was also a four year varsity starter in baseball, leading the Falcons in batting average and pitching victories for two of those years. He led the area in stolen bases(39) as a junior, and finished his career with 116 steals, 25 home runs, and 23 pitching victories. He maintained a batting average of over .500 in Falcon playoff appearances. |
