Rev. Robert Monnin Athletic Director Inducted 2001
As Fenwick High School's first Athletic Director, Father Monnin was one of the pioneers of the fine Falcon athletic tradition. Besides establishing all of Fenwick's programs in that first year(1952), he later introduced golf, baseball and women's basketball to the school. He was instrumental in the formation of the Little Southwest Ohio League, forerunner of today's Mid Miami League, with FHS as a charter member.
Early Fenwick athletic banquets, under Father Monnin's direction, featured many well-known sports figures as guest speakers, including such luminaries as Heisman Trophy winner Paul Hornung and Ohio State Coach Woody Hayes. He built the foundation for Falcon success on the gridiron and basketball court by hiring future Ohio High School Hall of Fame coaches in John "Butch" Rossi and Jerry Harkrader.
