Monica Long was an all-around athlete who excelled in basketball and volleyball. She was an outstanding individual contributor as a dominating post player for Falcon basketball teams that won three consecutive District championships and an MML championship. Monica garnered All-League honors after her junior and senior seasons and became one of the rare athletes to be named to the All-State 1st team in two consecutive years as well. She was invited to participate in the McDonald's All-Ohio All-Star game in Columbus after her senior season.
Equally as successful as a volleyball player, Monica capped her outstanding career as the senior captain of the 1980 MML championship team that advanced to the State tournament semifinals, finishing with a record of 24-1.
