Mickey Roberts played in the golden years of Fenwick football and was a major contributor to the success of those teams.

In his junior year, the Falcons record was 11-1 and in his senior year the record was 11-0-1, the only undefeated season in Fenwick's football history. During the regular season and for the first time ever captured the Mid-Miami League title.

Mickey was the starting fullback who successfully carried the ball as evidenced by the 190 carries for 851 yards and an average of 4.4 yards per carry with eight touchdowns scored in his junior year. However, his greatest contribution was as an outstanding intense blocker for the incredible tailbacks with whom he played. His teammates emphasize not only his athletic prowess, but, more importantly, his contributions to his teammates and to the school. His attitude was contagious and motivated the entire team to raise their level. Mickey suffered a serious knee injury mid-season of his senior year. He continued to play and never missed a game although at times he needed a crutch just to get around after the game. After his graduation he opened a gym and was the person who began the first serious weight training program for Fenwick athletes.

Mickey's accomplishments are substantial and significant. In his senior year he was named co-captain of one of the most outstanding teams that Fenwick has ever fielded. As a co-captain, he led his team to their second consecutive state championshp title and an undefeated season. Mickey was named Mid-Miami League First Team, First Team All District, Second Team All Hamilton Area and Third Team All State. These awards are especially significant in light of the fact that in those days there was only a two-class system in the State of Ohio.
