 Bill was a three sport standout at Fenwick. He was a two year starter in football, lettered three years on the track team, and was a starter his junior year on the basketball team. His achievements are remarkable considering he accomplished these triumphs in three years. Billy was prohibited from playing sports his senior year because of an Ohio High School Athletic Association regulation.
On the football team Bill played offensive guard and defensive end. He started varsity as a sophomore and was second team All-MML in the 1970 season. The Falcons were ranked #14 in the State Class A Associated Press poll. Team ranking was important because state football playoffs were not initiated until 1972. The following year he was first team All-MML and was selected tot he first team for the Class A Southwest District. The Falcons finished with a record of 7-3 and were ranked #12 in the AP's State Class A poll. Bill received the Armco Football award for the 1971 season as the Falcons Best Defensive player. Bill is regarded by many long time Fenwick followers as one of Fenwick's all-time best linemen.
In basketball Bill was a power forward and also played center for the 1972 Sectional Champion Team and District runner-up, finishing 12-9. Bill was a tenacious rebounder and defender, and averaged 9.0 points per game.
On the track team Bill was a hurdler and middle distance runner for three years. In 1972 the track team won the Sectional Championship.
Upon graduation Bill attended Franklin College in Indiana where he was a 4 year starter on the football team. He received many awards his junior and senior years. He was named Best Defensive player and was selected to the NAIA All-District team in 1976.
Bill received his undergraduate degree from Franklin College in 1977. He currently works for Dickerson Distributing Company. Bill has been an assistant football coach for Fenwick since 1978(34 years). He has volunteered extensively at Fenwick, from keeping the basketball scorebook to working annually at the Fenwick Festival.
Bill is married to Jean and they have four sons; Billy '98, Robbie '01, Joe '04, and Tim '07, all Falcon football players, with Robbie and Joe continuing their football careers into college.
